We come to you for clutch repair

If you're missing gears, leaking fluid or your clutch pedal goes to the floor, it's easy to book a clutch repair that comes to you!

While it’s possible to drive a manual transmission without a working clutch, it will be difficult to start and almost impossible to change gears. Most clutch problems are caused by a worn clutch cable, which we can replace at your location. However, not all clutch problems are obvious, which is why we do a thorough inspection of your vehicle before giving you an itemised quote for the work required.

How much does clutch repair cost?

We always strive to give you a fixed price up front and let you be in control of costs.

While a total clutch replacement can cost from $500 to $1,200, it largely depends on the make and model of your car. For 4WDs, performance cars and more exotic vehicles, the cost of a clutch alone can reach $2,000. With any clutch replacement the largest cost is labour, as it will take time to disassemble and replace all the clutch components. As most clutches are reasonably sturdy, you should only need to replace it every 200,000 kilometres, or roughly once over the lifetime of most cars. If you have recently purchased a car that is nearing this limit, it’s a good idea to book a mobile clutch service to ensure that everything is working safely.

A clutch is an important mechanical device that connects and disconnects your engine from your wheels in manual transmission vehicles. It plays a vital role in controlling power transfer between your engine and the drivetrain and allows you to make smooth gear changes; enables efficient start, stop and accelerations and prevents your engine from stalling. When your clutch pedal is pressed the clutch disengages, separating the engine from your wheels and allowing you to change gears without stalling or damaging the transmission. When the clutch pedal is engaged your engine reconnects to your wheels and power is able to be transferred to your wheels.
In most cases it is easy to determine that the clutch is the problem with your car. It could be that you need to push the clutch pedal in further to make changes, or that no matter what you do the gears crunch when performing a gear shift. When a clutch cable goes, you’ll hear a loud thump, and then the pedal is very light to push in, this is due to the fact it’s not connected to anything. A new clutch under normal driving conditions should last anywhere from 50,000 – 150,000km or more, however, a clutch can wear faster based on the person driving. If you tend to drop or ride the clutch, you will wear it out faster. If your gear changing often results in grinding the gears, the clutch and gears will wear faster than normal. By changing your style of driving, you can make the clutch last longer, and therefore space out the time between repairs.
Bleeding a clutch is the process of removing air from the hydraulic system so the clutch pedal feels firm and the clutch engages smoothly. If your clutch feels soft, spongy, or hard to shift, bleeding the system may help restore proper operation. Step‑by‑Step: How to Bleed a Clutch 1. Locate the Clutch Bleeder Valve The bleeder valve is usually found on the clutch slave cylinder near the gearbox. 2. Check the Fluid Level Make sure the clutch or brake fluid reservoir is full. Most vehicles use DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid as specified by the manufacturer. 3. Attach a Clear Hose Place a hose over the bleeder nipple and run the other end into a container to catch old fluid. 4. Pump the Clutch Pedal Have a helper press the clutch pedal several times and hold it down. 5. Open the Bleeder Valve While the pedal is held down, open the valve to release air and old fluid. Close the valve before the pedal is released. 6. Repeat Until No Air Bubbles Remain Continue the process, keeping the reservoir topped up, until clean fluid flows out with no bubbles. 7. Tighten the Valve and Test the Pedal Once the pedal feels firm, tighten the bleeder and test the clutch operation.

What is a dual clutch? (AI) A dual‑clutch transmission (DCT) is an advanced gearbox that uses two separate clutches—one for odd‑numbered gears and one for even‑numbered gears—to deliver extremely fast, smooth gear changes. Because the next gear is pre‑selected before shifting, DCTs offer quicker acceleration and improved efficiency compared to many traditional automatics.
